Hassan of Sweden emerged as Singles Champion of the 19th Euro Cup Carrom
Tournament concluded just few minutes ago at Lungern, Switzerland. Mehedi
Hassan defeated Fabian Pereira of France in straight sets of the Final Match.
Mehedi Hassan and Fabian Pereira secured top two positions with 22 points each
after 12 rounds of Swiss League. Pierre Dubios of France secured 3rd position
with 20 points. Chavda Natvarsingh of UK got 4th position with 18 points.
102
players from 11 European countries participated in the 19th Euro Cup. First,
Team event was organized followed by Doubles and Singles. All events were
played on Swiss League system -25 points or time limit of 50 minutes. In
Singles, 12 rounds were played while in Doubles 7 rounds and Team event 5
rounds were played. Twelve rounds in Singles made the competition very
interesting and exciting. The rising level of carrom skill was displayed by
European players.
Team
event was decided on the basis of best of three Singles. U.K.Team once again
lifted the Euro Cup Team title while Germany and France could get 2nd and 3rd
positions. Doubles event was claimed by mixed pair of Sweden - Mehedi Hassan
and Slovenia - Kuppusamy Thangaraj. Second position was won by French pair of
Fabian Pereira and Benolt Lamy. German pair of Peter Wolfgang and Mark
Mueller-Linow secured 3rd position.
The
Euro Cup was organized by the Swiss Carrom Association from 27th to 30th August
2015 at Lungern, Switzerland. Lungern lies in the very center of Switzerland.
Lungern’s landmark is its impressive 100-year-old Gothic stone Church. The
cable car from Obsee in the lower part of the village takes you to the alpine
heights of Schönbühl.
